weighted usable area

An index of the capacity of a stream reach to support the species and life stage being considered, expressed as actual area or percentage of habitat area predicted to be available per unit length of stream at a given flow. The total surface area having a certain combination of hydraulic and substrate conditions, multiplied by the composite probability of use by fish for the combination of conditions at a given flow.
