neoplastic transformation

Neoplastic transformation is the conversion of normal cells into tumor cells. Frequently this is the result of a genetic change (mutagenesis) and the same term is used to describe the genetic modification of bacteria for use in biotechnology. See epigenetic changes, genetic toxicology, genotoxic, mutation, mutagenesis, tumor.
